Internship Onboarding Guide

Welcome to AcademeForge! This guide outlines your day-to-day responsibilities, how our remote ecosystem operates, and the exact steps you need to take to succeed.

1. Onboarding & Setup

Your first few days are dedicated to integrating into our remote workspace. Please ensure you complete the following steps immediately upon receiving your acceptance email:

1.1 Account Provisioning

  • Set up your official AcademeForge credentials if provided, ensuring you use a secure password and enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
  • Join our official communication channels (e.g., Discord or Slack) using the invite link provided in your welcome email.
  • Update your profile on all platforms with your full real name and a professional profile picture.

1.2 Reviewing Documentation

Before beginning any technical or project work, you must thoroughly read the Workspace Policy. Understanding our Code of Conduct and Confidentiality requirements is your first major milestone.

2. Understanding Your Role

Pro Tip: We operate in a highly autonomous environment. Taking ownership of your tasks is the most important skill you will develop here.

2.1 Project Allocation

You will be assigned to a specific project board or repository based on your applied role. Review the current backlog, actively in-progress tasks, and the project roadmap to understand the broader context of your work.

2.2 Weekly Deliverables

At the beginning of each week, you will work with your team lead to define clear deliverables. Whether it's writing code, designing UI screens, or crafting content, you are expected to meet these agreed-upon targets by the end of the week.

3. The Daily Workflow

Structure and communication are the pillars of remote work. Follow this rhythm to stay aligned with your team.

3.1 Asynchronous Updates

  • Morning Check-in: Post a brief message in your designated channel outlining what you plan to accomplish today.
  • Evening Wrap-up: At the end of your working hours, post a short summary of what you actually completed and any blockers you faced.

3.2 Managing Blockers

If you are stuck on a task for more than 1 hour, it is your responsibility to raise a flag. Reach out in the public team channel with a clear description of the problem and what you have already tried. Do not suffer in silence.

4. Collaboration & Tools

We use industry-standard tools to manage our ecosystem. Familiarizing yourself with them is crucial.

4.1 Version Control & Reviews (Engineering & Design)

All code must be submitted via Pull Requests (PRs) on GitHub/GitLab. All designs must be handed off via Figma. Never push directly to the main branch or alter master design files without an approved review.

4.2 Effective Communication

When asking questions, provide context. Instead of asking "How do I fix this error?", provide the error log, the file you are working on, and your initial hypothesis. This speeds up the collaboration process immensely.

5. Path to Success

Our internship program is designed to build your portfolio and prepare you for top-tier professional roles.

5.1 Earning Your Certificate

  • Maintain consistent communication (no unexcused radio silence).
  • Complete 100% of the milestones assigned to you during your tenure.
  • Demonstrate a proactive attitude by suggesting improvements, helping peers, and taking initiative beyond your basic tasks.

5.2 Feedback Loop

We encourage a culture of continuous feedback. If you feel a process is inefficient, speak up. Conversely, be open and receptive to constructive criticism regarding your code, designs, or writing. It is the fastest way to grow.
